[linux] chgrp できない?
NIS で配布している group に、なぜか chgrp できない。
/etc/nsswitch.conf は

な状況下で、
slink 環境や potato 環境だと
% groups
users disk matlab staff cvsadmin
% touch test; chgrp staff test
chgrp: you are not a member of group `staff': Operation not permitted
となる。しかし slackware を glibc 2.0.6 にした環境だと、
ちゃんと chgrp できる。うーん。
ちなみに groups, chgrp をそれぞれ strace した結果は以下の通り:

つらつらみていたら、そうか debian の /etc/group には
staff:*:50:
っていうエントリがあるからなんだ (;_;)
ううむ、やはりあらゆるホストを debianize しないともうだめじゃな...

結局どうしたかというと、NIS で配布しているマップの方を
staffs に変更した。
新年度開始に伴い, ユーザーアカウントの整理など。
メンドクサイ。

標準的なディレクトリそれぞれに、
WHATISHARE ファイルというのを配置し、
そこにあるファイルの説明と、
関連する文書への足がかりを説明するのはどうだろか, と言うもの。
いくつかフォローがつく。
- whatfor っていうプログラムの project がある。 "whatfor file" で file の説明が出るやつなんだけど、
文書へのリンクはまだない。開発者に伝えてみる (Lawyer)
- いいアイディアだとおもう。 FHS
を参考にするといいだろう。 (Greg O'Keefe)
- いいアイディアだと思うけど、 HOWTO にまとめて、 そちらに誘導するほうがいいんじゃないだろうか。

水素終端した Si(001) 上に RT で 200nm の Cu を MBE depo,
420/473K まで 1K/min で昇温し、 RHEED の specular spot の
半値幅の変化を見て、表面の smoothing の効果を見ている。
roughness transition temp. 以上だとだめだけどー、と言う主張。
平坦化は STM でも確認。テラスサイズの温度・時間変化から、
activation energy 0.4eV を出している。
平坦化した後に Cu を付けると、RHEED 振動も観察される。

ionic crystal の radiation damage への metal atom の adsorbate を
ab-initio の Hatree-Fock で計算 (CRYSTAL95 と言うコード)。
対象は Ag/MgO(100)。付着力の制御に使えるのでは？と言うお話。

Au を硫酸中で溶かし、single step の island の面積減少を
in situ AFM で測定。面方位の依存性など。すごいね。

水素終端した Si(100)-2x1 上へ Ag 蒸着、island の高さを STM で測定し、
分布関数を導出。cluster density の coverage 依存性から、
coalescence の様子の議論。

8nm 程度までの SiO2 酸化膜 on Si(100) の屈折率を
角度をいろいろ変えた偏光解析結果から fitting して決定、
膜厚依存性を出している。
膜の薄いうちは、屈折率が 2 くらいと結構大きく見えたりしてる。

Updates sent to the ldp-submit list from 3/17/2000 through 3/4/2000.
These documents were omitted pending some action, as noted below.
HP-HOWTO (me learning how to add directories to CVS properly)
Linux-Networking-HOWTO (waiting to find out what it obseletes)
NCD-X-Terminal-miniHOWTO (need to email the authors of the NCD X term
HOWTOs and find out what the plans are, and if they can be merged)
Call-Back-mini-HOWTO (plain text, yuck, what should I do with this?)
A few files were renamed. Any miniHOWTOs that were updated have been added
in the src directory, and removed from the minisrc directory. I will
be merging in the miniHOWTOs whenever they are updated, but they are called
-miniHOWTO and not -HOWTO as with the other HOWTO documents there.

どうもうまくいかん。
選択肢はいろいろあると思うけど、どうするのが良かろうか、との質問。

DocBook を最終的な各種フォーマット (tex, pdf, html, txt)
にするには、結局のところどうすればいいのだ？という
Tom Fawcett さんの質問。
- 各種フォーマットに変換する Makefile があるけど、いる？(Godoy)
- いまは以下のような方法を使ってるんだが...
"chunked" HTML files:

PPPoE HOWTO:

I'm getting close to having a rough draft of a ADSL + PPPoE HOWTO completed.
It covers user and kernel space approaches, and has a section on setting up
a strong firewall with PPPoE, which I am now working the bugs out of. If
anyone has any suggestions for additional things to include with this HOWTO,
I would appreciate the feedback.

(fxima さんのご教示によります)。以下は cvs.info より:

Generate the old keyword string, present in the working file just

keyword, generate the string `$Revision: 1.1 $' instead of
`$Revision: 5.7 $' if that is how the string appeared when the
file was checked in.
