description: Gnumeric is a powerful and easy to use spreadsheet program from the GNOME project. Its goal is to compete with the commercial offerings; users of Excel should be already familiar with Gnumeric's advanced features. A plugin system lets you extend Gnumeric with GPL extensions, and optional Python, Guile, and Perl plugins let you define complex functions in those popular languages. It is capable of reading and writing MS Excel spreadsheets, and reading many other formats. changes: This release adds numerous bugfixes.
description: Astroconst makes header files in C, Fortran, Perl, IDL, Java, and Gnuplot defining a plethora of astrophysical constants useful for scientific programming. The header files are generated from a single modifiable data file. changes: This release fixes a value of Thompson cross-section, improves precision of parsec, and adds CMB temperature, classical electron radius, Bohr radius, and Wien displacement law constant.
description: isync is a commandline application which synchronizes a local maildir-style mailbox with a remote IMAP4 mailbox, suitable for use in IMAP-disconnected mode. Multiple copies of the remote IMAP4 mailbox can be maintained, and all flags are synchronized. TLS/SSL is supported via imaps: or STARTTLS.
This document aims to describe the basics of IRC and respective applications for Linux.* NEW entry
changes: Correct error path in rmmod.c, inclusion of the latest Redhat alias list, hppa and hppa64 support, reworked Makefiles for common 32/64 code, addition of parportmap, use of GNU standards for cross compile, a fix for bounds-checking on generic_string, and generation of a warning instead of an error for invalid MODULE_PARM. urgency: low
description: pam_passwdqc is a simple password strength checking module for PAM-aware password changing programs, such as passwd(1). In addition to checking regular passwords, it offers support for passphrases and can provide randomly generated passwords. All features are optional and can be (re-)configured without rebuilding.pam の勉強もしないとなー
description: help2man is a tool for automatically generating simple manual pages from program output. It is intended to provide an easy way for software authors to include a manual page in their distribution without having to maintain that document. Given a program which produces reasonably standard --help and --version outputs, help2man will attempt to re-arrange that output into something which resembles a manual page. changes: This release allows options to be specified in the initial block of include files.
description: afbackup is a client-server backup system offering several workstations a centralized backup to a special backup server. The backup on the clients can be started automatically using cron-jobs on the clients, but the more inteligent solution is to start it remotely from a central administrative host. Any streaming device can be used for writing the data to it. The only thing it must be able to is to distinguish between several files on tape so that it can be positioned directly. changes: This release includes OpenBSD support, a tape locations database, media changer support, new cart_ctl command, support for saving the mtime for restoring of last time attribute, a fix so contents of the progress text window in xrestore are always visible. The server can now send mail to current users (%U) on the clientside (%H), includes a write messages to syslog function, includes path replacements (%L, %B, %V), and exhibits less strange behaviour if no logging path is provided. Various fixes are also included regarding toplevel directories with a name consisting of only one character, a segfault whilst restoring a filesystem entry with ACLs and several hardlinks, a buggy function in libdes is now avoided when not explicitly called, and a better algorithm to select the tape files for emergency restore.
Two bugs in GnuPG have recently been found: There is a problem in the way gpg checks detached signatures which can lead to false positives and gpg would import secret keys from key-servers. Updated packages are available from security.debian.org.
Lez discovered a format string problem in stunnel (a tool to create Universal SSL tunnel for other network daemons). Brian Hatch responded by stating he was already preparing a new release with multiple security fixes. Updated packages are available from security.debian.org.
Matt Kraai reported that he found a problem in the way dialog creates lock-files: it did not create them safely which made it susceptible to a symlink attack. Updated packages are available from security.debian.org.
description: The stunnel program is designed to work as an SSL encryption wrapper between remote client and local (inetd-startable) or remote server. It can be used to add SSL functionality to commonly used inetd daemons like POP2, POP3, and IMAP servers without any changes in the programs' code. It will negotiate an SSL connection using the OpenSSL or SSLeay libraries. It calls the underlying crypto libraries, so stunnel supports whatever cryptographic algorithms you compiled into your crypto package. changes: A fix for a new problem with zombies, an attempt to be integer-size independent, and a new SIGHUP handler.
description: GNOME Basic is an attempt to provide a 100% compatible replacement for Visual Basic, VBA, VBScript, and other associated languages. It was originaly focused at making VBA macros work inside gnumeric, but due to scope slippage it executes some forms, parses most VB, and executes simple ASPs. With better Bonobo integration, a fully compatible MS environment will become feasible. changes: Redim, For Each, UBound, LBound, and 'Exit' have been implemented, Declare is now parsed, faster function description parsing is performed, Option support has been added, and lots of bugs have been fixed.
changes: This release adds a workaround for the buggy glibc-2.1.3. cdrtools will hopefully compile again on Red Hat 6.2 nd SuSE 6.4
changes: This release includes several DIB bitblt optimizations, a new configuration file format and location, faster initial registry loading, unicode edit control, and lots of bugfixes.
description: drsync is a Perl wrapper for rsync which keeps track of the filelist between synchronizations. If you delete a file in one place, it will delete it in the other place; if you add a file, it copies to the other place. It is ideal for notebook users who want to keep data in two different places. It is also good for the Linux PDAs (Agenda, iPAQ, Yopi, etc.), to keep data synchronized. The requirements are designed to be minimum because of the PDAs. changes: First usable version.
